Random Name Picker Wheel for Classrooms
Use it as a classroom name spinner or student picker wheel: paste your class or team list, one name per line, and spin. Winners are removed after each spin by default. Need teams instead? Try the random group generator.
Tip: add *3 after a name (for example Pizza*3) to make it 3 times as likely.
My saved lists (class rosters, favourites)
Lists stay in this browser. Use first names or initials for students.
Names already picked this round stay off the wheel, even after you close the page. When everyone has been picked, a new round starts.
Share or embed this wheel
The wheel is stored inside the link itself, so it never expires and needs no account.

How to use the random name picker wheel
- Paste your class or team list, one name per line, replacing the sample names.
- Press SPIN. Winners are removed from the wheel after each spin, so nobody is picked twice until you press "Reset list".
- Signed in with Google? Save the list as "Class 7B" and turn on class memory, so picked students stay off the wheel even after you close the page.
Good for
- Calling on students without picking favourites
- Choosing who presents or goes first
- Assigning jobs or roles in a group
- Drawing a winner at a school event
Tips
- Use first names or initials for students. Nothing is uploaded unless you sign in and save a list.
- Give a name a weight, for example "Sam*2", if a student has missed turns and should be more likely to come up.
- Need teams instead of one name? Try the random group generator.
FAQ
Are the names stored anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser; names are never sent to a server.
How do I pick a different student each time?
Leave "Remove winner after each spin" ticked. Each student is taken off the wheel once picked, and Reset list brings everyone back.
How do I make sure a student is not picked twice?
Leave "Remove winner after each spin" ticked. With class memory (signed in) the picks also carry over to the next lesson, until you start a new round.
Is this fair to students?
Each name has an equal chance unless you add weights, and the pick is made before the wheel starts to turn. You can run the randomness audit to see the spread yourself.
